Acupuncture Basel

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a proven healing method from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and has been used for over 2,000 years to treat people holistically. In Basel, this method is used specifically to promote the natural flow of energy in the body, release blockages, and restore inner balance. The central foundation of acupuncture is the concept of Qi—the life energy that flows through a network of meridians in the body.

How does acupuncture work?

1. Effect from the perspective of TCM

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, health arises when Qi—the life energy—flows freely and harmoniously through the body. Ailments and illnesses arise from blockages, deficiencies, or stagnation of this energy flow.

Acupuncture works by:

  • regulates the flow of Qi and dissolves blockages

  • restores the energetic balance between Yin and Yang

  • energetically strengthens or calms certain organ systems via the meridians

  • releases emotional tensions that can cause physical discomfort

The needles are inserted at individually selected acupuncture points. These points directly influence energy circulation and are related to specific organs, tissues, and functions.

Modern medicine is also intensively studying the mechanisms of action of acupuncture – with fascinating results. Studies show that acupuncture works on various biological levels, for example:

  • Pain reduction:
Acupuncture stimulates the release of the body's own painkillers, such as endorphins, serotonin, and dynorphins. At the same time, pain transmission in the spinal cord and brain is inhibited.

  • Promotes blood circulation:
Needles at specific points improve local microcirculation, relax muscles and accelerate healing in cases of inflammation or tension.

  • Regulation of the nervous system:
Acupuncture influences the autonomic nervous system (sympathetic/parasympathetic) and leads to deep physical relaxation. This allows for the targeted treatment of stress symptoms, sleep problems, and inner restlessness.

  • Stimulation of hormonal and immunological processes:
Acupuncture can regulate hormone levels (e.g., in cases of menstrual or menopausal symptoms) and modulate the immune system, e.g., in cases of allergies or chronic inflammation.

Process of acupuncture therapy

In Basel, treatment begins with a detailed consultation. Not only are your symptoms analyzed, but also your lifestyle, emotions, and overall energetic state. The acupuncture needles are individually selected and gently inserted.

You rest for about 20-30 minutes in a relaxed atmosphere – during this time your body begins to regulate itself.

The needles are extremely thin and barely noticeable. Many patients report a feeling of deep calm and inner clarity.

Is acupuncture safe?

Yes – acupuncture is a very safe form of therapy, especially when performed by qualified and experienced therapists. In Basel, the highest priority is placed on safety, professionalism, and care, which is why the practice requires cantonal approval.

Your therapist should take sufficient time to take a thorough medical history and select acupuncture points individually. The approach should always be mindful and patient-centered.

The following safety standards apply:

  • Sterile disposable needles:
Only thin, sterile, disposable needles are used, which are disposed of immediately and properly after each treatment. This eliminates the risk of infection.

  • Hygienic environment:
The practice rooms meet the highest medical hygiene standards. Bed surfaces, hands, and skin—everything is carefully disinfected and prepared to ensure safe and comfortable treatment.

  • Individual needle guidance:
The needles are inserted with great precision and sensitivity. Sensitive reactions should be addressed carefully and professionally.

Häufige Fragen zu Kosten und Rückerstattung

Brauche ich eine ärztliche Verordnung?

Nein.

Dann gilt ganz einfach unser transparenter Stundenpreis – ohne versteckte Zusatzkosten.
